Here you will be able to find information about Continuing Professional Development and other Workforce Developments locally, regionally and nationally. These pages will be regularly updated to reflect this important and growing aspect of school life.

Established within the School Improvement Service in September 2003, Rotherham’s Workforce Development Team offers support to schools in developing workforce capacity through continuous professional development.

Effective CPD is central to school improvement. The DfES CPD strategy [2005] aims to develop schools as ‘professional learning communities‘ which are constantly improving standards in leadership and in teaching and learning. Alongside this, the current Workforce Reform Agenda has raised the profile of support staff in schools, and created a demand for improved professional learning to support their contribution and career progression.

Against this national picture, the Workforce Development team offers a varied programme of support to local schools.
