In support of the new Performance Management regulation the Rewards and Incentives Group (RIG) has now published a Model Policy for Performance Management incorporating a classroom observation protocol. We strongly recommend schools to use this as the basis for their own revised policy as it is wholly compliant with the new regulations.

Model Performance Management Policy

Revised Professional Standards for Teachers which underpin the Performance Management process have now been published by TDA. The revised framework can be downloaded below. Alternative presentation formats can be downloaded from the TDA website (See Useful Links).

In order to help schools with training around the revised regulations, copies of the materials used during the training for headteachers and governors are listed below. We will continue to add materials to this list as we produce them, and receive them from RIG and the TDA.

Once the schools policy for PM has been formulated, headteachers are advised of the need to undertaken a formal consultation process on the policy with the staff affected by the new arrangements. Paul Fitzpatrick has kindly developed a model letter should schools wish to use this for the consultation process:

PM Model Consultation Letter you need any help or guidance with implementing the changes around PM for teachers and headteachers please contact any member of the team. You can find our details on the contacts page

The Workforce/CPD team have been developing guidance to support PM of teachers. This includes proformas, suggested agendas etc for both reviews and reveiwees. In line with out commitment to approaches to PM that are as near as possible consistent for all groups of staff, you will recognise many similarities between this document and the Support Staff PM guidance.
