Many staff will be familiar with the concept of maintaining a professional development portfolio, perhaps through involvement in NQT induction, through threshold applications, or wider performance management processes.
An effective portfolio should be flexible enough : to p rovide staff with the opportunity to maintain a record of their own professional learning ; to store evidence in support of performance management objectives and job applications; and to enable them to reflect on their practice, development needs and career aspirations. Portfolios can be arranged in different ways, but the most successful are arranged in sections, using a clear index, allowing easy access to each section.
The Workforce Development Team have developed a Model Professional Development portfolio for use by teachers or support staff involved in the delivery of teaching and learning.
