What Do We do?
The Service provides a comprehensive and professional advisory support, development and training service to head teachers, school governors, governing bodies and clerks to governing bodies. A significant element of the Service is funded through a Service Level Agreement with schools.
The National Standards for Governance Professionals and Services identifies eight key elements to the Service:
1. To fulfil key functions within the local authority framework operating as an efficient and effective service
2. The assurance that the operation of governing bodies meets statutory requirements
3. To ensure an effective and appropriate flow of information to governing bodies
4. To assist with the development of governing body effectiveness and capacity
5. To manage and promote the recruitment, retention and recognition of individual governors
6. The management and promotion of training for governors
7. The provision of efficient and effective administrative support to the operation of governing bodies
8. To promote governor networks
