Governor Development Service
Welcome to RGDS Homepage
The Governor Development Service is one of five teams within Learning Services; one of six Services working within Children and Young People’s Services Programme Area. The main responsibilities of the Service are:
• Developing strategy and policy for all matters relating to school governance
• Ensuring that governing bodies are enabled to fulfil their strategic leadership role in school improvement
• Securing the development, implementation and review of a programme of governor support, training and development
• Ensuring effective links are developed and maintained between the Governor Development Service and other Services supporting school improvement as determined by the Children and Young People’s Plan
• Securing the provision of a cost-effective quality assured Governor Development Service responsive to the needs of governing bodies and schools
• Ensuring local authority responsibilities are met
