Over recent years junior schools have had to address a range of issues that have impacted on their capacity to raise attainment. These have included coping with difficult transition issues, larger class sizes and difficult budget issues.

The Junior School Partnership was launched at the Primary Head Teachers meeting in October and is intended in some way to address this issue, investigating issues, barriers and sharing good practice.

It is hoped that this partnership, involving 13 schools, will last for two years. In the first year of the project there will be a focus on ensuring that the key elements of pupil tracking, target setting and getting, Raise on Line, assessment for learning and rigorous and high quality monitoring of teaching and learning are in place.

Outcomes of the project are intended to impact on Y6 results in 2007. Schools involved will be looking at the sharing of good practice across schools, networking, accessing CPD for all staff where appropriate and implementing additional TA Support for focused groups.
